Jesus came to set the captives free. The prophet Isaiah specifically informs us of this (see Isaiah 61:1) and Jesus Himself states this as His ministry (see Luke 4:18). Thus, that was Jesus’ message, life, and vision. The book of Hebrews 2:3-4 tells us that Jesus says ministry was attested to by signs, wonders, and miracles.
“Jesus ministered from place to place throughout all the province of Galilee. He taught in the synagogues, preaching the hope of the Kingdom realm and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people. His fame spread everywhere. Many people who were in pain and suffering with every kind of illness were brought to Jesus for their healing—epileptics, paralytics, and those tormented by demonic powers were all set free. Everyone who was brought to Jesus was healed!” Matthew 4:23-24 TPT
Acts 10:38 AMP tells us, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with great power; and He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.”
John 14:12-14 (TPT) gives us not only the mandate of Christ on our lives, but the authority and power to those who Believe—“I tell you this timeless truth: the person who follows Me in faith, believing in Me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do even greater miracles than these because I go to be with My Father! For I will do whatever you ask Me to do when you ask Me in My Name. And that is how the Son will show what the Father is really like and bring glory to Him. Ask Me anything in My Name, and I will do it for you!”
No doubt, healing and deliverance AKA freedom is part of our very salvation and redemption.
Salvation, in and of itself, comes from the Greek word sozo--which means to be saved, healed, and delivered. While all of these are related to healing (in some form), there is a definite distinction between all three.
Know this truth because Jesus came preaching the Kingdom of God and healing all that were sick and oppressed of the enemy. At the same time, He brought the message of Grace and forgiveness of sins and therefore, being united with God and becoming one with Him—essentially experiencing everlasting life through salvation. While this is spiritual healing, the Scriptures in their original context definitely differentiate and declare that there is healing and deliverance for the soul (mind, will, and emotions) and the physical body. All of which Jesus proved in and through His ministry–and then told His Believers (who are His ambassadors) to go and do the same.
The role of prophetic healing and deliverance is intrinsically tied then to the mission of Christ, as it brings to light the profound restoration found within the Kingdom of God. Through the ministry of Jesus, the interplay of grace, power, and compassion revealed the heart of God—a desire for reconciliation and wholeness in every area of life. This ministry continues to serve as a beacon, calling Believers to rise in their authority as ambassadors of the Kingdom, equipped not only with the promises of salvation but also with the tools to heal and deliver, which begins with personal healing and deliverance.
Prophetic intercession and prophetic healing and deliverance converge as powerful expressions of divine intent, echoing the timeless truths of Jesus’ teachings and actions. Believers who embrace this dual calling step into a dynamic partnership with God, interceding for the liberation of those ensnared in spiritual bondage while proclaiming the healing touch of Christ. This sacred intersection underscores the transformative nature of the Gospel, extending its reach beyond spiritual redemption to encompass emotional and physical renewal.
Mark 16:17-18 confirms John 14:12-14 and is clear that Believers of Christ will walk in these very signs: “And these miracle signs will accompany those who believe: they will drive out demons in the power of My Name. They will speak in tongues. They will be supernaturally protected from snakes and from drinking anything poisonous. They will lay hands on the sick and heal them.”
While a portion of the Church has questioned this very truth–it remains truth. The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is to be prophesied, taught, and preached with signs, wonders, and miracles just as Jesus did. He expects nothing less from His believers and His ministers—ambassadors today!
This is truth–Believers have the Holy Spirit of Truth who brings all truth to us today. Thus, this divine mandate is not limited to the early apostles or select few; it is an enduring call to all who believe and follow Jesus.
The essence of prophetic healing and deliverance lies in its ability to reveal the heart of God, whose desire is for the restoration and wholeness of His creation. Even today, Believers are called to the ministry of reconciliation, standing as conduits of God’s power to bring freedom to the oppressed and healing to the broken.
Again, intercessory prayer plays a vital role in this ministry of healing and deliverance; serving as the spiritual battleground where victories are won. Through prophetic intercession, Believers align with the will of God, declaring His purposes over individuals and communities. It is here that spiritual strongholds are dismantled, and lives begin to reflect the transformative power of the Kingdom of God.
To walk in this calling requires faith, boldness, and an unwavering commitment to the truth of the Gospel. It is through the intimate relationship with Christ that Believers access the authority required to perform mighty works IN HIS NAME. As ambassadors of the Kingdom, we carry the message of hope, salvation, and healing to the farthest corners of the earth, embodying the very essence of Christ’s love and compassion.
The LORD through His Holy Spirit laid the ministry of healing and deliverance on the heart of Debra at the inception of full-time ministry decades ago. Thus, healing and deliverance will be at the forefront of NBCMI.
