After moving to the Western North Carolina Mountains in 2004, Senior Leaders Debra and Rick Jack started attending New Covenant Church in Clyde, NC. Knowing that God had called them to pioneer a church in the area, they became linked with Dr. Frank Harvey, Brian Cagle, Richard Marcello and Pastor Nick Honercamp of New Covenant Church. They served as needed at New Covenant Church.
Fast Forward to September 2005. Debra and Rick had been praying and heard God tell them that now was the time to start a church “across the mountains” from their current church in their home town of Leicester. At that time, a building became available – the old Leicester BP gas station. After consulting with Dr. Frank Harvey, they not only received encouragement to begin the work, but were sent out with financial support and prophetic direction from New Covenant Church, as were the apostles in the book of Acts.
After much renovation, New Beginnings Christian Fellowship opened its doors the first Sunday of November 2005. The church continued to grow and soon began making plans to acquire a larger meeting space.
In February of 2008, a God-given opportunity opened up and New Beginnings Christian Fellowship began to upfit a commercial/business space at the gateway between West Asheville and Leicester. New Beginnings Christian Fellowship opened services in this new space in May 2008.
Again, as we are growing, we are looking for land to build a new facility that fits with the vision of the church and the community of Asheville/Leicester.
We have seen the hand of God at work from the establishment of NBCF to the present. We look forward with great anticipation to see how God continues writing our story!
